“A Hug for Abused Equines”: Sponsorship Initiative by the Pierce Kindergarten & Primary School Parents’ Association in Collaboration with ESPI
The Pierce Kindergarten & Primary School Parents’ Association is undertaking an important initiative of compassion, support, and environmental awareness, turning its attention to the protection of abused and neglected horses.
Following its visit and activities at the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Equines (ESPI), the Association’s Board officially sponsored Kallisi, a 16-year-old former racehorse who was rescued from Aspropyrgos suffering from serious injuries and malnutrition.
The initiative received an immediate and moving response from the school community. Students, parents, and teachers of Class G2 of the 3rd Grade at Pierce, joining forces, collectively raised the necessary funds to sponsor two additional equines, Melina and Ioli.
The ESPI sponsorship program runs for one year and costs €80, an amount that fully covers the annual living expenses, care, and veterinary treatment of a rescued animal. Kallisi, for example, despite suffering from chronic lymphangitis, can now enjoy the safety and specialized treatment she deserves thanks to this support.
Following this successful start, the Association’s Board extends an open invitation to other classes, groups, and parent groups to follow the example of Class G2, turning compassion into action and supporting the important work of ESPI.
